President Trump made the decision today to fire Rex Tillerson from his current position as Secretary of State. This comes just weeks before the planned meeting between Trump and and Kim Jong-Un, to avoid conflict on the Korean peninsular. President Trump told reporters that he “respected” Tillerson and that he “got along well with Rex”. He also said, “I think Rex will be much happier now”. The White House intends to replace Tillerson, who has served as Secretary of State for the past year, with the current Director of the Central Intelligence Agency, Mike Pompeo. The move has been both praised and criticised by commentators across the world.
