A former Russian intelligence officer turned MI6 informer, Sergei Skripal, was found on a bench in the English market town of Salisbury. He and his daughter are now critical condition in a local hospital. The nerve agent Novichock, produced in Russia, has been found to have been used in the attack. The police have advised all people in Salisbury who believe they have come in contact with the deadly nerve agent to wash the clothes they were wearing on the day of the attack (March 4th 2018). UK Prime Minister and Leader of the Conservative Party, Theresa May, has stated that it is ‘highly likely’ that President Putin and the Russian government were responsible for the attack. She has given the Russian government until 00:00 on March 14th to explain their actions. People have already drawn parallels between this case and the case of Alexander Litvinenko.
